ليا فان لير ( née Greenberg  ؛ بالعبرية : лие все лий ؛ 8 أغسطس 1924 - 13 مارس 2015) كانت مديرة فنون إسرائيلية رومانية المولد وأمينة أرشيف أفلام. كان فان ليت رائدًا في برمجة الأفلام الفنية وأرشفة الأفلام، وكان مؤسس سينماتك حيفا ، وسينماتك القدس ، وأرشيف الأفلام الإسرائيلية ، ومهرجان القدس السينمائي .

سيرة

وُلدت ليا غرينبيرغ في 8 أغسطس 1924 في بالتسي ، مملكة رومانيا (مولدوفا حاليًا)، لعائلة يهودية من بيسارابيا . كان والدها، سيمون غرينبيرغ، مُصدِّرًا للقمح، وكانت والدتها، أولغا، متطوعة في منظمة WIZO . التحقت بمدرسة ثانوية حكومية، وقضت عطلاتها الصيفية في جبال الكاربات. في عام 1940، أرسلها والداها إلى فلسطين لزيارة أختها بروريا، طبيبة الأسنان، التي هاجرت عام 1936 وكانت تعيش في تل أبيب . لم ترَ والديها مرة أخرى. في يوليو/تموز 1941، اغتال الألمان والدها وعددًا من قادة الجالية اليهودية. رُحّلت والدتها وجدتها إلى ترانسنيستريا ، حيث توفيتا في معسكر اعتقال. انتقلت ليا إلى القدس عام 1943 للدراسة في الجامعة العبرية بالقدس . وفي عام 1952، تزوجت من ويم فان لير، وهو مهندس وطيار وكاتب مسرحي ومنتج أفلام هولندي، واستقرت في حيفا. [ 2 ] أسسا أول نادٍ سينمائي في البلاد عام 1955.

"لم يكن هناك تلفاز آنذاك... وكان لدينا جهاز عرض أفلام 16 ملم، هدية من حماي. كنا نستضيف الأصدقاء كل جمعة لمشاهدة الأفلام. أصبح منزلنا الأكثر شهرة في حيفا"، كما تذكرت. [ 2 ] تحوّل نادي الأفلام هذا إلى سينماتيك حيفا. وشكّلت مجموعة أفلام عائلة فان ليرز الخاصة أساس الأرشيف السينمائي الإسرائيلي، الذي تأسس عام 1960.

In 1973, a Brazilian businessman, George Ostrovsky, who dreamt of creating a cinematheque in Israel, approached the van Leers and persuaded them and Teddy Kollek to share his dream. Ostrovsky donated the necessary funds to build the Jerusalem Film Center (comprising the Israel Film Archives and the Jerusalem Cinematheque) in the Hinnom Valley below the Old City walls. Teddy Kollek and the Jerusalem Foundation mobilized more funding from friends in Hollywood and around the world. The Jerusalem Cinematheque opened in 1981, and Lia van Leer was named its first director. After the death of her husband in 1991, she inaugurated the Wim Van Leer Award for High School Students to encourage young filmmakers. In its first year, eight films were submitted; in 2008, 90 films contended for the prize.[3]

In 1995, she headed the jury at the 45th Berlin International Film Festival.[4]

Awards

In 2004, Lia van Leer was awarded the Israel Prize for her lifetime achievement & special contribution to society and the State of Israel.[5][6] She won a prize for her volunteer work from Israeli president Chaim Herzog in 1988.[2]

Death

Lia van Leer died on March 13, 2015, aged 90, from undisclosed causes.[7]
