دارت معركة كراسنوي الأولى في 14 أغسطس [ 2 أغسطس حسب التقويم القديم ] 1812 في كراسني بين القوات الفرنسية بقيادة ناي ومورات والفرقة الروسية بقيادة نيفيروفسكي ، والتي كانت تتألف في معظمها من جنود مجندين حديثي التجنيد. ^[³^] وكانت جزءًا من الغزو الفرنسي لروسيا .

تمكنت مشاة ناي، بالتعاون مع فرسان مراد ، من طرده من كراسنوي والاستيلاء على جزء من مدفعيته، وهي أولى غنائم الحملة بأكملها. حشد نيفيروفسكي قواته التي تراوحت بين 5500 و6000 جندي مشاة في مربع ضخم عجز فرسان مراد عن اختراقه. تحرك المربع عبر الحقل فوق سياج خشبي، ولم يتمكن فرسان مراد من اللحاق به. تمكنت قوات نيفيروفسكي من الانسحاب بنظام جيد، لكنها تركت 1500 رجل خلفها. ^{[ 5 ]}^{[ 1 ]}
