هذا تسلسل زمني لتاريخ المرأة في العلوم ، يمتد من التاريخ القديم وحتى القرن الحادي والعشرين. وبينما يركز التسلسل الزمني بشكل أساسي على النساء العاملات في العلوم الطبيعية كعلم الفلك، وعلم الأحياء، والكيمياء، والفيزياء، فإنه يشمل أيضاً نساءً من العلوم الاجتماعية (مثل علم الاجتماع وعلم النفس )، والعلوم الرسمية (مثل الرياضيات وعلوم الحاسوب)، بالإضافة إلى معلمات بارزات في مجال العلوم وعالمات في الطب . وتتعلق الأحداث المذكورة في التسلسل الزمني بالإنجازات العلمية والمساواة بين الجنسين في العلوم.

التاريخ القديم

  • القرن الأول قبل الميلاد: امرأة تُعرف باسم فانغ فقط، أصبحت أول كيميائية صينية مسجلة . يُنسب إليها "اكتشاف كيفية تحويل الزئبق إلى فضة" - ربما العملية الكيميائية المتمثلة في غلي الزئبق لاستخلاص بقايا الفضة النقية من الخامات. [ 6 ]
  • القرن الأول الميلادي: كانت مريم اليهودية من أوائل الكيميائيين في العالم. [ 7 ] [ 8 ]
  • القرن الثالث الميلادي: يُنسب إلى كليوباترا الخيميائية ، وهي شخصية مبكرة في الكيمياء والخيمياء العملية، اختراع جهاز الإمبيك . [ 9 ]

  • 1609: أصبحت القابلة الفرنسية لويز بورجوا بورسييه أول امرأة تكتب كتابًا عن ممارسات الولادة. [ 41 ]
  • 1636: آنا ماريا فان شورمان هي أول امرأة تحضر محاضرات جامعية على الإطلاق. [ 42 ] كان عليها أن تجلس خلف ستار حتى لا يراها زملاؤها الطلاب الذكور.
  • 1642: سُجنت مارتين بيرتيرو ، أول عالمة معادن مسجلة ، في فرنسا للاشتباه في ممارستها السحر. وكانت بيرتيرو قد نشرت عملين مكتوبين عن علم التعدين والمعادن قبل اعتقالها. [ 6 ]

  • 1656: نشرت الكيميائية والكيميائية الفرنسية ماري موردراك كتابها La Chymie Charitable et Facile, en Faveur des Dames (الكيمياء المفيدة والسهلة، لصالح السيدات). [ 44 ]
  • مارغريت كافنديش، دوقة نيوكاسل أبون تاين، أرستقراطية إنجليزية، وفيلسوفة، وشاعرة، وعالمة، وروائية، وكاتبة مسرحية
    1667: كانت مارغريت لوكاس كافنديش ، دوقة نيوكاسل أبون تاين (1623 - 15 ديسمبر 1673)، وهي أرستقراطية إنجليزية وفيلسوفة وشاعرة وعالمة وروائية وكاتبة مسرحية، أول امرأة تحضر اجتماعًا في الجمعية الملكية بلندن ، في عام 1667. وقد انتقدت وناقشت أعضاء وفلاسفة من بينهم توماس هوبز ورينيه ديكارت وروبرت بويل .   • 1668: بعد انفصالها عن زوجها، أسست العالمة الفرنسية الموسوعية مارغريت دي لا سابليير صالونًا أدبيًا شهيرًا في باريس. وكان العلماء والباحثون من مختلف البلدان يترددون على الصالون بانتظام لمناقشة الأفكار وتبادل المعرفة، كما درست سابليير الفيزياء وعلم الفلك والتاريخ الطبيعي مع ضيوفها. [ 46 ]
  • 1680: نشرت عالمة الفلك الفرنسية جان دومي ملخصًا للحجج الداعمة لنظرية كوبرنيكوس حول مركزية الشمس . وكتبت: "لا فرق بين دماغ المرأة ودماغ الرجل". [ 47 ]
  • 1685: أشرفت الشاعرة وعالمة الآثار الفريزية تيتيا برونجرسما على أول تنقيب في دولمن في بورجر، هولندا . وقد أسفر التنقيب عن أدلة جديدة تشير إلى أن الهياكل الحجرية كانت قبورًا بناها بشر ما قبل التاريخ، وليست هياكل بناها عمالقة ، كما كان الاعتقاد السائد سابقًا. [ 48 ]
  • 1690: نشرت عالمة الفلك الألمانية البولندية إليزابيثا كوبمان هيفيليوس ، أرملة يوهانس هيفيليوس ، الذي ساعدته في ملاحظاته (وربما حساباته) لأكثر من عشرين عامًا، باسمه كتاب Prodromus Astronomiae ، وهو أكبر وأدق فهرس للنجوم حتى ذلك التاريخ. [ 49 ]

  • ١٧٠٢: التقطت عالمة الحشرات الإنجليزية الرائدة إليانور غلانفيل عينة فراشة في لينكولنشاير ، والتي سُميت لاحقًا فراشة غلانفيل تكريمًا لها. أبهرت مجموعتها الواسعة من الفراشات زميلها عالم الحشرات ويليام فيرنون، الذي وصف عمل غلانفيل بأنه "أروع مجموعة فراشات، جميعها إنجليزية، والتي تفوقت علينا جميعًا". أصبحت عينات فراشاتها جزءًا من المجموعات الأولى في متحف التاريخ الطبيعي .   • 1702: أصبحت عالمة الفلك الألمانية ماريا كيرش أول امرأة تكتشف مذنبًا. [ 54 ]
  • حوالي 1702-1744: في مونتريال، كندا ، جمعت عالمة النباتات الفرنسية كاثرين جيريمي عينات نباتية ودرست خصائصها، وأرسلت العينات وملاحظاتها التفصيلية إلى العلماء في فرنسا. [ 55 ]
  • 1732: في سن العشرين، أصبحت الفيزيائية الإيطالية لورا باسي أول امرأة تنضم إلى أكاديمية بولونيا للعلوم . وبعد شهر واحد، دافعت علنًا عن أطروحاتها الأكاديمية وحصلت على درجة الدكتوراه. مُنحت باسي منصبًا فخريًا كأستاذة للفيزياء في جامعة بولونيا ، لتكون بذلك أول أستاذة فيزياء في العالم. [ 56 ]
  • 1738: أصبحت العالمة الفرنسية الموسوعية إميلي دو شاتليه أول امرأة تنشر لها أكاديمية باريس بحثاً ، وذلك بعد مسابقة حول طبيعة النار. [ 57 ]
  • 1740: نشرت العالمة الفرنسية الموسوعية إميلي دو شاتليه كتاب "مؤسسات الفيزياء " ( Institutions de Physique ) الذي قدم أساسًا ميتافيزيقيًا للفيزياء النيوتونية . [ 58 ]
  • 1748: أصبحت عالمة الزراعة السويدية إيفا إيكبلاد أول امرأة تنضم إلى الأكاديمية الملكية السويدية للعلوم . قبل ذلك بعامين، طورت عملية جديدة لاستخدام البطاطس في صناعة الدقيق والكحول، مما قلل اعتماد السويد على محاصيل القمح وخفض خطر المجاعة. [ 59 ]
  • 1751: حصلت الفيزيائية الإيطالية كريستينا روكاتي، البالغة من العمر 19 عامًا، على درجة الدكتوراه من جامعة بولونيا . [ 60 ]
  • 1753: كانت عالمة النبات الأمريكية جين كولدين هي عالمة الأحياء الأنثى الوحيدة التي ذكرها كارل لينيوس في عمله الرئيسي Species Plantarum . [ 61 ]
  • 1754: كانت الطبيبة الألمانية دوروثيا إركسليبن أول امرأة تحصل على شهادة دكتوراه في الطب في ألمانيا (جامعة هاله، التي كانت آنذاك جزءًا من مملكة بروسيا). مارست الطب من عام 1747 إلى عام 1762 في كويدلينبورغ .
  • 1755: بعد وفاة زوجها، تولت عالمة التشريح الإيطالية آنا موراندي مانزوليني منصبه في جامعة بولونيا ، وأصبحت أستاذة في علم التشريح وأسست مختبرًا معروفًا دوليًا لأبحاث التشريح. [ 62 ]

  • 1760: بدأت عالمة البستنة الأمريكية مارثا دانييل لوجان بالتواصل مع جون بارترام ، المتخصص في علم النبات وجامع النباتات ، وتبادلت معه بانتظام البذور والنباتات والمعرفة النباتية. [ 64 ]
  • 1762: قامت عالمة الفلك الفرنسية نيكول رين ليبوت بحساب وقت ونسبة كسوف الشمس الذي كان متوقعًا حدوثه خلال عامين. وقد أنشأت خريطة لتوضيح مراحل الكسوف، ونشرت جدولًا بحساباتها في طبعة عام 1763 من كتاب " معرفة الأزمنة" . [ 63 ]
  • ١٧٦٦: نشرت الكيميائية الفرنسية جينيفيف تيرو داركونفيل دراستها حول التعفن . عرض الكتاب ملاحظاتها المستقاة من أكثر من ٣٠٠ تجربة على مدى خمس سنوات، سعت خلالها إلى اكتشاف العوامل الضرورية لحفظ لحم البقر والبيض وأنواع أخرى من الأطعمة. وقد أوصى الكيميائي بيير جوزيف ماكيه بمنح عملها امتيازًا ملكيًا .   • حوالي عام 1775: أصبحت المستكشفة الفرنسية وعالمة الأعشاب والنباتات جان باريه أول امرأة تطوف حول العالم. [ 66 ]
  • حوالي عام ١٧٧٥: بدأت الكيميائية والفنانة العلمية والمترجمة الفرنسية، ماري آن بولز لافوازييه ، العمل مع زوجها الكيميائي أنطوان لافوازييه . وكان لها دورٌ محوريٌ في نشر كتاب زوجها الرائد "رسالة أساسية في الكيمياء" عام ١٧٨٩، والذي قدّم رؤيةً موحدةً للكيمياء كمجالٍ علمي، حيث رسمت مخططاتٍ لجميع المعدات المستخدمة، واحتفظت بسجلاتٍ دقيقةٍ أضفت مصداقيةً على النتائج. كما ترجمت وراجعت مقالة ريتشارد كيروان "مقال عن الفلوجستون وبنية الأحماض"، والتي أدت إلى اكتشاف غاز الأكسجين.   • 1782-1791: قامت الكيميائية وعالمة المعادن الفرنسية كلودين بيكارديه بترجمة أكثر من 800 صفحة من الأوراق العلمية السويدية والألمانية والإنجليزية والإيطالية إلى الفرنسية، مما مكن العلماء الفرنسيين من مناقشة واستخدام الأبحاث الدولية في الكيمياء وعلم المعادن وعلم الفلك بشكل أفضل. [ 68 ]
